REQUIREMENTS FOR U.S. CITIZENS TO OBTAIN VISA TO ENTER DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO
Tourist Visa
- Submit your U.S. Passport (must have at least 6 months remaining validity)
- 2 Visa Application Forms, fully completed and signed
- 2 Passport-type photographs required
- Completed Cover Page and Credit Card Authorization forms (print from browser)
- Notarized Letter of invitation from D.R.Congo host or friend
- International Certificate of Vaccination for Yellow Fever (Cholera recommended)
- Copy of round trip airline tickets or itinerary, or letter of confirmation from travel agent
Business Visa
- Submit your U.S. Passport (must have at least 6 months remaining validity)
- 2 Visa Application Forms, fully completed and signed
- 2 Passport-type photographs required
- Completed Cover Page and Credit Card Authorization forms (print from browser)
- International Certificate of Vaccination for Yellow Fever (Cholera recommended)
- Notarized invitation (from the D.R. Congo)
- A business letter of responsibility is required (two copies), to be typewritten on your company or organization letterhead and addressed to: "Consular of Democratic Republic of Congo, Visa Section, New York, NY ", stating nature of business to be performed; Name and address of reference to be visited; Guarantee of return transportation and sufficient funds for the visit.
- The letter should be signed by an officer of the company other than the applicant.

- Your application will be hand carried to the Consulate office, and is usually processed in 4-5 business days. Rush issuance is available in 24-48 hours. The Consular fee is doubled for Rush issue.

Visa Information
- The D.R. Congo tourist or business visa is usually valid for three months from date issued, for a stay of 1-6 months as specified.
- Passport must have at least six months remaining validity and contain at least one blank visa page for visa to be issued. TDS can assist with obtaining U.S. Passports, whether new issue, renewal, or obtaining additional visa pages for a valid passport.
- Special requirements exist for U.S. Official and Diplomatic passport holders.
REGISTER YOUR TRIP:
The U.S. Department of State encourages all American travelers to register with their local Embassy or Consulate when arriving in a foreign country. Registration helps the Embassy to provide important services for American citizens residing or traveling abroad. Some of these services include:
- Locating individuals in cases of family or personal emergencies,
- Relaying important travel and safety information about the region,
- Arranging evacuation transportation in cases of natural disaster or civil unrest,
- Issuing replacement passports when originals are lost, and
- A number of other administrative services relating to personal documentation.
Without the information provided through registration, the Embassy is severely hindered in its ability to provide these services. Many of these services involve emergency situations and time constraints, therefore failure to register will almost certainly lead to delays at moments when you can least afford them.
