Departure
tax: The Airport departure tax is NZ$ 20 per adult. Children
under 5 years of are are exempt.
Medical
Services: Niue has a public hospital that handles routine
medical matters. Charges for services to visitors may be made.
Electricity:
Electricity is reticulated throughout the island. It is generated
by diesel generators at 240 volts AC, 50 cps. Electric points
use New Zealand/Australian standard three point plugs.
Telecommunications:
Local and international direct dialing facilities are available
for telephone, fax and telex. Telephone facilities are available
at the hotel, motels. In addition, the Telecommunications Department
at the Commercial Center in Alofi is open 24 hours.
Banking/Currency:
New Zealand currency is used on Niue with some local commemorative
coinage available.
Tipping:
Tipping is not expected in Niue.
Driving:
Driving is on the right hand side of the road.
Water:
Drinking water is from natural spring or rainwater, but bottled
water called Tavana is available.
