REQUIREMENTS FOR U.S. CITIZENS TO OBTAIN VISA TO ENTER LIBERIA

Tourist Visa

  • Submit your U.S. Passport, must have at least 6 months remaining
  • 1 Visa Application Forms, fully completed and signed
  • 1 Passport-type photograph required
  • Completed Cover Page and Credit Card Authorization forms (print from browser)
  • International Certificate of Vaccination for Yellow Fever
  • Copy of round trip airline tickets or itinerary, or letter of confirmation from travel agent
  • Letter from physician confirming applicant is free of communicable diseases
  • Evidence of sufficient funds (Bank Visa Letter)
  • Additional Requirements for Minors aged 18 years or less
    • Copy of Birth Certificate
    • Notarized letter from both parents requesting the consulate issue a visa.
    • Copy of the minor's vaccination records
Business Visa
  • Submit your U.S. Passport, must have at least 6 months remaining
  • 1 Visa Application Forms, fully completed and signed
  • 1 Passport-type photograph required
  • Completed Cover Page and Credit Card Authorization forms (print from browser)
  • International Certificate of Vaccination for Yellow Fever
  • Copy of round trip airline tickets or itinerary, or letter of confirmation from travel agent
  • Letter from physician confirming applicant is free of communicable diseases
  • A business letter of responsibility (sample) is required, to be typewritten on your company letterhead and addressed to:

    Consulate General of Liberia, Visa Section, New York, N.Y.

    The letter must explain all of the following:
    • Nature of business to be performed
    • Name and address of reference to be visited
    • Guarantee of return transportation and sufficient funds for the visit.
    • The letter should be signed by an officer of the company other than the applicant

    Your application will be hand carried to the Consulate Office. Each application must be approved by the Government of Liberia, and is usually processed in 10 - 12 days. Rush issuance is available for additional embassy fees detailed below

  • Note: The consular fees are non-refundable

  • Include credit card authorization, a check or money order payable to to "Travel Document Systems, Inc." for TDS handling fee per visa, plus Embassy Consular Fee per visa, and return Shipping Fee.

Visa Notes
  • The Liberia tourist or business visa is usually valid for a single entry within three months, or multiple entries within one year from date issued, each stay not to exceed 30 days.
  • Passport must have at least six months remaining validity and contain at least one blank visa page for visa to be issued. TDS can assist with obtaining U.S. Passports, whether new issue, renewal, or obtaining additional visa pages for a valid passport.
  • Special requirements exist for U.S. Official and Diplomatic passport holders.

REGISTER YOUR TRIP:

The U.S. Department of State encourages all American travelers to register with their local Embassy or Consulate when arriving in a foreign country. Registration helps the Embassy to provide important services for American citizens residing or traveling abroad. Some of these services include:
  • Locating individuals in cases of family or personal emergencies,
  • Relaying important travel and safety information about the region,
  • Arranging evacuation transportation in cases of natural disaster or civil unrest,
  • Issuing replacement passports when originals are lost, and
  • A number of other administrative services relating to personal documentation.
Without the information provided through registration, the Embassy is severely hindered in its ability to provide these services. Many of these services involve emergency situations and time constraints, therefore failure to register will almost certainly lead to delays at moments when you can least afford them.
