• Scientists, professors, or researchers (who are current University faculty), attending cultural, technological, or scientific conferences, seminars or meeting (services provided must not be paid by organizations/companies in Brazil, except for reimbursement of expenses or per diem allowances. An invitation from the host organization would usually be required.
• Participation in artistic or amateur sport competitions, whenever no monetary prize or paid admission is involved. An invitation from the host organization would usually be required.
• Jurisdiction: These instructions apply only residents of the following states in the jurisdiction of the Consulate General of Brazil in Los Angeles, CA: Arizona, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, Utah, Wyoming, and in the State of California, the counties of Imperial, Kern, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura. .

• U.S. Passport (must be signed), must be valid for 6 months from date of entry, and contain at least two blank visa pages.
• 1 Brazil Visa Application form, fully completed and signed.
  

  • The Brazil Consulate requires that all tourist applicants complete the section "Comments" under Question #21 (Purpose of Trip) of the visa application form. Applicants must explain in complete detail all they are going to do while in Brazil. We recommend making the explanation on a separate page.
  • Persons making short visits to religious organizations, churches, missionaries, or humanitarian organizations in Brazil, should present a letter from the church or institution responsible for organizing the trip. The letter should explain what the group is going to do in Brazil, the name and contact information of the institution they will be visiting and what kind of volunteer assistance they will provide (brief or incomplete explanations are usually rejected, causing delays).
• 2 recent professional passport-type photographs
• Proof of Residency: Provide a clear photocopy of driver's license as proof of residency in the Los Angeles Consulate's jurisdiction
• If the visa applications mentions "visiting friends" please provide a letter of invitation from the host in Brazil.
• Completed Cover Page and Credit Card Authorization forms (print from browser)
• Copy of round trip airline tickets -OR- letter from travel agent confirming round-trip tickets will be issued. Itinerary is NOT ACCEPTED unless showing ticket number(s), or that the ticket is paid for.

Minor Children:(Under 18 Years)

• U.S. Passport (not a copy), must be valid for 6 months from date of entry, and contain at least one blank visa page.
• 1 Brazil Visa Application form, must be signed and notarized by both parents or legal guardians
  Travel Authorization for Minors Form (Notarized). All applicants under 18 years of age, who are traveling alone, or in the company of only one parent, will only be allowed out of Brazil when duly authorized by the absent parent(s)
  1 recent passport-type photograph
  Notarized photocopy of the birth certificate (not orginal)
  In the event of absent parent(s), a notarized letter of parental consent authorizing the Consulate General of Brazil to issue a visa, signed by the absent parent(s) or guardian(s).
  Copy of round trip airline tickets -OR- letter from travel agent confirming round-trip tickets will be issued. Itinerary is NOT ACCEPTED unless showing ticket number(s), or that the ticket is paid for.

Your application will be hand carried to the Embassy, and is usually processed in not less than two weeks.

Fees

• Visa is usually valid for entry within 90 days of the issue date, and then becomes valid after the first entry, for multiple entries for a further ninety days to five years. If it is not used within 90 days of issue date, the visa automatically expires. The period of stay in Brazil, of each entry, may be between 30 days and three months (no more than six months stay during any 12 months period). Persons who are visiting friends or conducting activities other than sightseeing may be issued a more limited visa, valid for entry for only 30-90 days, for a stay of up to 30 days. The specific validity of each visa - 30 days, 90 days or 5 years for entry, or 30 days, or 90 days stay - is determined solely by the Consulate and cannot be changed.

Visa Notes:

• The visa application may be copied, but it must be back-to-back, correct side up, on a single sheet of letter size paper. Int'l Certificate of Vaccination showing valid polio vaccination s required for all children aged between 3 months and 6 years. International Certificate of Vaccination for yellow fever is required if entering Brazil from an infected area.
• There are nine different Brazilian consular offices in the U.S.-- each issues its own application form and requirements may vary.
