REQUIREMENTS FOR U.S. CITIZENS TO OBTAIN VISA TO ENTER BRAZIL


Brazil Business Visa
(Temporary II Visa)

  • For business negotiations, sales and marketing only. If the purpose of visit or the nature of duties to be performed in Brazil includes any form of "technical support" e.g. installation, repair, start-up, software development, etc., the Temporary V Visa is mandatory.
  • Submit your U.S. Passport, must be valid for 6 months from date of entry
  • 1 Brazil Visa Application form, fully completed and signed.
  • Completed Cover Page and Credit Card Authorization forms (print from browser)
  • 1 Professional Passport-type photograph (Color Photo Only - digital photographs not accepted)
  • Copy of round trip ticket, or itinerary from an air carrier or travel agent attesting to the acquisition of the ticket, showing flight information and dates of departure to and from Brazil.
  • A clear photocopy of your Drivers License - enlarged if possible.
  • A business letter from your firm, addressed to:
    Consulate General of Brazil,
    Visa Section,
    New York, NY
    .

    The letter should state all of the following:
    • The purpose of the trip in detail;
    • The nature of duties to be performed in exact detail
    • Declaring that "technical support" will not be performed in Brazil
    • Guaranteeing financial support for the applicant while in Brazil, moral responsibility, and return transportation.
    • The letter should be signed by a company executive other than the applicant.
  • Your application will be checked and hand carried to the Brazil Consulate. Processing time is 4-5 business days.

  • This information applies to applicants who are residents of the following states: Connecticut, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and New England.   The visa issued to residents of these states will be valid for multiple entries to Brazil for 3 months to 5 years. The first entry must be made within 90 days of the date of issue of the visa.

  • Urgent applications are also accepted from residents of the states of: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Maine, Massachusetts, Mississippi, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, Tennessee, US Virgin Islands, and the Commonwealth of the Bahamas), Arizona, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Utah, Wyoming, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Nebraska, North Dakota, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, South Dakota and Wisconsin, Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, Vermont and Texas.   However, the visa issued to residents of these states will be valid for multiple entries to Brazil for 3 months only. The first entry must be made within 90 days of the date of issue of the visa.

Visa Notes:
  • International Certificate of Vaccination for yellow fever is required if arriving in Brazil from any area of an infected country.
  • Business visitors performing technical services, or business visitors holding technical qualifications, e.g. engineers, computer specialists, installation (start-up), or repair specialists, etc., MAY require visa approval from the Brazil Ministry of Labor, prior to visa issue. The host company in Brazil must arrange this approval.
  • The Brazil business visa is usually valid for entry into Brazil (and must be first used) within 90 days of issue date. The business visa is then usually valid for multiple entries for either three months, or up to five years, for a stay of up to 90 days each visit.
  • There are nine different Brazilian consular offices in the U.S.-- each issues its own application form and requirements may vary.
  • Some Consulates do not accept visa applications by mail.
